My last post was a fun day in the snow... back when we loved the snow. Now, not so much. Make it STOP!! Due to the crazy amounts of snow and ice all over the pacific northwest they canceled all the flights into portland and seattle yesterday resulting in a long, disappointing day at the airport. We've been talking up Christmas at Grandma's so much Izak was in tears several times yesterday when we had to explain why we couldn't "get on airplane to go gramagrampa house." So last night after returning home we decided to drive I ran to the store for travel food, a DVD player and some Diego and we were set, or so we thought. turns out all the roads we would be driving on to get to WA are closed. :( Now that I've complained, there are a couple big things I am thankful for... first off, we are all still together as a family and that's important to me. Secondly, at least we are stranded at home instead of some awful airport in some other state where we have no place to go. We're still hopeful they might add a flight to portland today or tomorrow but if not, we'll be around. :) Merry Christmas everyone!

Okay so here goes nothin... usually I can find a million other things that are higher on my priority list of stuff to do, but tonight I am dedicated to finding a way to post pics. I don't know if you've been outside lately, but baby it's COLD outside!!! I'm offically beginning hybernation. Last week just before the weather dropped to numbingly cold temperatures we were able to squeeze in a mini snow day. I remember I woke up to huge flakes falling outside and it snowed ALL day until about 4:00. As soon as Izak woke up from his nap we suited up and hurried outside to enjoy the last hour of light. He had a blast throwing, eating and rolling in the snow but I think his favorite part was tackling the snowman. The whole time we were building it, he kept trying to knock him over. After the third beheading he finally agreed to help me with the finishing touches for a picture. Here's a peek at our backyard winter wonderland. :)

Okay well to all of you who are frustrated because i haven't updated my blog since the fourth of July... I promise I am more frustrated than everyone combined. Let me give you a little glimpse into the happenings of my attempts to blog... after spending the first hour or so finding and organizing the pictures i want to post, I begin trying to upload them... one at a time, four at a time, big/small it doesn't matter. The computer "thinks" for a couple of minutes (which seems like hours) and gives me an ERROR message, again and again and again. I've tried switching browsers, making my attempts at different times of the day, changing the size and quality of the pictures and converting them to different formats... none of which have worked so far. So... unless my computer is broken or I am entirely dysfunctional, there will be no more blogging. At least not until I get the urge to try again.

Independence Day

It's been a while since I've updated so i thought I'ld share our 4th with you. I always get a little emotional when I stop and think about how lucky I am to live here in America. When I think about how much I take for granted and how so many people have given their lives for our freedom, it's very humbling. I know our country isn't perfect, but there's no place I would rather live. With that said... we started the day off at the neighborhood carnival where Izak played games until I wimped out from the heat and we went home for a nice cool nap. Later we headed down to Fountian Green, Utah where we met up with one of my best friends, Tiana ,and her husband Ammon from WA to party on down at their family barbeque. I think Izak found his first big crush and spent the entire day chasing Tiana's niece Megan around and jumping on the tramp. He jumped and jumped until the minute we left at 10PM. If only I had that kind of energy... We ate and talked and ate some more until it got dark. Brant played the worlds longest game of kroket and some serioius frisby while Izak went around chugging any open soda he could get his little hands on. We set off some fireworks while Izak threw a kazillion pop-its and enjoyed a nice summer night's breeze for a change. We had a great time and Tiana's in-laws were so gracious to let us join their family Celebration! Thanks for a great day guys!

Our little dare devil decided to take his trike for a ride down our front porch steps. I think his face pretty much broke his fall. My poor little baby! Its so sad to look at him. He has this huge bruise down the side of his face but he's in surprisingly good spirits. It helps me not to feel as bad when he smiles his big cheesy grin.

Okay so it's been a while. I don't really have an excuse for slow updates, just laziness and lack of a will to blog. We're all doing good, keeping busy and enjoying some sunshine here and there. Brant's been gone to Cali a lot for work lately, so it was fun to have my parents come visit last week! They helped me create/plant my very first garden which I'm very excited about! We had lots of fun planting and swimming and playing in the dirt during their visit! Here are some pics...

Izak sick

This winter has been the absolute worst season for colds and flu and trust me we've had more than our share of the stuff. On Friday Izak was so miserable with his temp of 104 that he just layed on either brant or I an fell in and out of sleep all day long. It was truly the saddest thing, but he's getting back to his crazy self. He's developed a new love... coloring. every morning he gets out the crayons and goes to town. unfortunately he dosen't see paper as an essencial for making his mark.

Last week we got to spend lot of precious moments with my sister in law Kelly and our adoreable niece Morgan. Last week we had the company of Brant's brother and his family! Dwight, Rachel, Brandon, Kayla, and Ashley came all the way from Washington to take advantage of the snow and hang out us. Brant and Dwight took the older kids skiing while Rachel and I enjoyed shopping for bargins at the Modbe warehouse sale. We had a great time and Izak loved spending time with his cousins!

Kristen must have logged onto her blog from my computer. I'm guessing that's what happened, because I pulled up my blog and added some pics, but when I clicked on View Blog, my post showed up on the Wallace Family page. Since I have the power, I'm going to add some Christmas pictures for your viewing pleasure. I've heard lots of people (ok, so 2, but I know there are more of you out there) ask Kristen to keep up with her blogging. And since she has "computer issues", I've decided to help her out. Izak spent a few days before Christmas sick with the stomach flu, but that didn't slow him down from sampling candy from his (and his mom's and his dad's) stocking on Christmas morning.

It's been a LONG time since I updated our blog so here's a little re-cap of what we've been up to the past couple of months. We moved back to Utah end of August. The move back is always hard because we miss our CA friends so much, but the transformation was a little easier this year because we had something to look forward to. My brother Jason and his wife Angela and their two boys moved in with us! It's been nice having a girl to hang out with and in-house playmates for Izak. :) Life's been pretty good. Izak started walking about a month ago and thinks he's pretty big stuff. Brant's been working hard cutting down all our fruit trees in the back and trying to landscape our pittiful backyard and I've been busy just being a mom. Anyway, here are some pics so you can see what we've been up to...

Grandma and Grandpa Wallace came to visit over conference weekend and we decided to take them up Millcreek Canyon to get some fresh air. Grandma taught Izak how to throw rocks in the stream and he was in heaven right up until he had to go back into his carseat. He didn't leave without a fight.

Izak has a slight shoe fettish. He's constanly finding shoes from around the house and trying to put them on my feet. I feel like Cinderella most of the time because between the four adults and three children in this house... most of the time they don't fit. He also likes to climb in my closet and throw my shoes off the rack so he can sit on it.

Izak had a great time opening all his birthday gifts! His friend cooper has this toy that shoots little plastic balls in the air that Izak is obsessed with so you can imagine his delight when he opened his very own ball shooter. as soon as he saw the picture it on the box he started screaming with excitement and pounding on the box. when that didn't work, he crawled on top of the box and continued to pound and pick at the corners in attempt to open the darn thing. we couldn't get it put together fast enough... needless to say he is in heaven with all his new toys.

We spent this last weekend celebrating our little man's first birthday! I can't believe he's already a year old. We had a little party with friends on Saturday and Izak has been playing with his new toys non-stop. He thoroughly enjoyed his tasty cake and was on a sugar high for the rest of the day and part of the night. He didn't go to bed until 2 hours past his bedtime because he was so wired. He spent most of Sunday recovering but managed to squeeze a few hours of playing in between church and naps.

Yesterday we spent the afternoon grilling by the pool with friends. Izak and his friend Coop were getting very impatient waiting for the chicken to cook so we thought we'ld hold them off with some watermellon. The past two weeks have been full of parties and fun trips! We've been cramming in as much beach time as possible and Izak absolutely loves the ocean! The sand, the water, the waves, you name it he loves it! We celebrated our 4th of July this year swimming and playing volleyball with friends followed by a big juicy BBQ at Dave and Stacies house. The next day we took a little trip to the O.C. Zoo with Cooper and his Parents and finished off the day with a surprise birthday party for our good friend Tiffany. Last night we had a little girls night out and the dads stayed home with the kiddies for a change. Today we spent yet another fun day at the beach and Brant's went to a Dogers game tonight up in L.A. with some friends. I can't get enough of our summers here! Life truly is good!

We spent the day at a beach in Laguna last Saturday. Jessica, Tiffany and I played in the water with the babes while the menfolk went scuba diving. It was one of the funnest beach days we've ever had. Izak couldn't get enough of the water! The second I put him down he made a b-line for the ocean and when he saw a big wave coming he would scream with delight and wiggle and kick his little legs like crazy until I diped him in the water. This trip reminded me of playing in the water with my mom as a kid... good memories!

Izak is loving life as a mobile man. He started crawling a couple of weeks ago and now he thinks he's invincible. He tries diving off the bed and couch on a regular basis and is learning the meaning of "no" and "danger". He gets into EVERYTHING and throws fits from time to time, but he is far more content with his new crawling and standing abilities. His little personality is really coming out! He makes silly noises and funny faces to make us laugh and you can tell by the look on his face that he is SO proud when he conquers something new like standing up or crawling over a large object like mom or dad.

Our Family

Not so long ago in the land of Huntington Beach, the charming Mr. Wallace met the stunning Mrs. Wallace. They'd both recently moved to sunny California to spend their summers at the beach. It just so happened that they picked the very same apartment complex to live in for the summer. Coincidentally, both Brant and Kristen's room mates knew each other and so, the two apartments of friends ended up spending the entire summer together. It didn't take long before Brant and Kristen became good friends and when summer was through, they both moved to Salt Lake to pursue school, work, and dating. Two amazing years later, they were married in Portland, Oregon and the blissful newlyweds set out as husband and wife. A year into their marriage, they decided they wanted a bigger family but weren't quite ready for a baby so as soon as they moved into their first house they adopted a puppy. The lab/weimeriner mix was the winning combination to match Brant's endless energy and she quickly became part of the fam. By year two of the marriage they decided it was time for a babe of their own. Our precious baby Izak August 5, 2006. He fills our days with laughter and endless smiles and that is how we became the Wallace Family.
